Swami Brahmavidananda
I am a traditional and contemporary teacher of Vedanta, a body of knowledge which helps you discover
the completeness that you seek. My life has been a blessing. For more than thirty years now, besides
corporate workshops, I have been doing spiritual and psychological counseling for those who need it.
When required or requested, I also conduct workshops on spirituality and self growth issues.
General note:
Ancient wisdom of Bhagavad Gita and Vedanta
Biological growth takes place for human beings at least till eighteen years. What about emotional and
intellectual growth? We have seen fifty five year old people throw child like tantrums and twenty year
olds make mature decisions about finances, relationships and career. There is nothing involuntary or
automatic about how this happens. Choices are involved. To have a purpose in life, a choice is involved.
It is not going to drop down from somewhere, however spiritual. To heal from pain, a choice is involved.
To heal from past patterns and stop them from hijacking the present, a choice is involved. To appreciate
what is good and noble about oneself and others, a choice is involved. This choice and a need to grow in
emotional maturity is a strong one and all who seek healing in whichever form, fulfill this need through
that wonderful choice. We call this self growth which is a necessary condition and a pursuit for everyone
with no exceptions, if we want to make the most of this human life.
In addition to self growth, there is a body of knowledge revealed by Bhagavan, which now forms the
Vedas. The Vedas are a means of knowledge telling us things we cannot figure out ourselves through our
available means of knowledge such as perception and inference. The Vedas tell us about svarga, the
understanding of karma and its effects – punya and paapa, the nature of Bhagavan, the different homas
(fire ritual offerings) and the expected results, the different types of meditation and its results etc. It is
and will always be a GPS (global positioning system) for life. The world ‘s most ancient and still living
civilization, Sanatana Dharma is based on the teachings that came from the Vedas and subsequent
teachings all flawlessly preserved and handed down by unbroken lineage of guru-shishya parampara.
For most people, healing is limited to their minds, bodies and energies. Once healed, then what? Once
healed, the healed person has to move in the journey of wholeness to discover the truth of who the
person really is. Vedanta is the ultimate solution for the one who has existential angst, the one who
wants to discover the real purpose of life, the one who has understood the universal human problem of
suffering that underlies all the specific and topical problems, the one who still thinks of himself or
herself as a human being.

Swamiji (a term he has never insisted we use given how easy going he is!) is one of the finest contemporary Vedanta teachers of our time! Making his classes funny and as easy as possible, he is as comfortable with the teen as with existential angst! As his student, I am deeply honoured to have him as my teacher. He is wise, he is charming and always, always empathetic. On this site, he and Swamini fill our gap for a counsellor and mentor! Oh and you won't believe how much he doesn't charge :) :) :)
